Pirates.... Arrrgggghh!!

I think the photos will speak for themselves.

They day went off without hitch- great weather, the kids loved dressing up, and the pinata was a hit (pun intended!).

Fall is Coming

Wow, the summer sure has flown by... school starts next week for Jason. I can't believe he'll be gone all day.

Along with school starting comes Fall weather, sweaters, falling leaves, and PUMPKINS! My kids and I always have a blast carving pumpkins, but what about more adult sorta things? Well, check this out:

Don't you just love it! Whether you use it for a card, tag or decoration, this sparkly pumpkin is just perfect. Now, unfortunately it isn't for sale, but you can buy the tag kit and get crafty and creative.

Of course, I want to see what you do with your Halloween tags, so email me your pictures and I'll post them. Then, on October 31, I'll randomly draw a name of a tag artist and send you a goody!! How's that for some Fall fun?

My Newest Swap- a Dream Canvas

I made my first canvas for a ClubCreative swap due this month.I feel comfortable posting this, because my swap partner lives in Germany. I doubt she checks my blog.

I love this image. This gypsy woman had to have been so strong and fierce and independent, to be so different from everyone else. In an age when so many of us are concerned with fitting in, it's refreshing. It can serve as a reminder to all of us- it's OK to be different. More than that, diversity should be celebrated, not just tolerated.

I wonder what her dreams were? I wonder if any of them came true? Was she happy? Persecuted? Did she live long? Have any children?
Who knows, but I hope she knows that her spirit still lives on, even after all of this time.

DOH- she caught me! Little did I know, but Diana checked my blog and left me a comment. You should see what I'm getting- go look! It's all in German, but you'll get the gist! She is one mighty talented lady, and I'm lucky to be her partner!

ANNOYED

I listed, and sold a beautiful coffee pot on Ebay- and still haven't been paid! What the heck? I've sent 2 emails to the buyer, and no response. I'll give it a few more days- you never know what a person is going through, right?

And let me tell you, the buyer got is at well over half off! I just need to get rid of it, and can't afford the service myself! It was a wedding present from my first marriage- and I DO NOT want it anymore. Oh well. I'll keep you posted.
Addendum 8/21- well, I got paid today, I also got a bit of nasty-gram, stating that I shouldn't be threatening him (I had sent an email stating that if I wasn't paid in 7 days, I would report him- pretty standard for eBay). The buyer stated he was out of the country with an unexpected death. Like I said, you never know, right?

Honestly

I'm just pooped. Jason's birthday party yesterday was a blast- and I promise to post pictures- but it was a lot of work. Couple that with hubby going out of town for the fourth week in a row, the bathroom still not done, grubby kids, and a hectic schedule... and you have me.

So, I'm going to post some cool finds from recently treasure hunting. Soon enough, these babies will be available (hint*hint).

Linens and Things

I hit the local antique store the other day. She always has a bin of $1 linens. I found these:
Aren't these the cutest birds? They were wonderfully hand stitched by somebody. I'm not sure what they are, exactly. The measure 8.5 x 11.5, and are stitched all the way through the linen.

This tea towel is another example of hand stitching. It was probably a gift, and adorned someone's kitchen.

This is my favorite- these wonderful yellow flowers. Simply gorgeous! Too bad there was only one.

I'd never give this away, would you?

New ATCs

I'm on a roll! My mojo is baaaaaaaaaaaack!! Thank goodness. I was beginning to feel brain dead.

These beauties are for a ClubCreative swap with the theme of DOTS. I tried to make each one in a different style. They will soon be heading out to my partner. I hope she enjoys them!

So tell me what you think...and, by the way, what have YOU been up to?

Metal Madness

I have a thing for metal. I love the idea of collecting things I see on the ground, in flea markets, in the garage, and in the tool box. Bits and bobs that have been forgotten, but are waiting to be transformed. I have many of these little treasures. Someday soon, they will be magical again.

I'm particularly attracted to numbers and letters. I have a whole box full of lead printers type, just waiting for my ideas. I've been buying up brass stencils in all different sizes lately. I have no idea what I'll do with them, but I had to have them.

They look just amazing in mixed media pieces. I'd like to say I've made something with them, but I haven't. But I can show you something-

This was made by the talented Deryn Mentock. Go check her out. And then go buy some for yourself.
