More Family Fun!

Here are some additional family photos! The weather has been perfect, and we grilled out every night! I have finally figured out how to lower the grill temp and not char the outside and undercook the inside. We had green salad and veggies, and lots of yummy pasta salad. It really made me ready for summer. What I could do without is the nasty gnats-they're back again already. It's something about our lawn, because my sisters don't have them. Maybe something with the trees? No pesticides, here, though. I don't want the kids or the animals exposed to it. Cutter spray- here we come!
Grandpa and Jason played outside a lot. The swingset got quite a workout this week! Grandpa played baseball with both kids, which they adored. Needless to say, they tired them out every day. Both boys slept in today until almost 9!!
Granpa and Grandnan also brought a great summer water toy. Both my kids love water, and even though it wasn't really hot, we broke it out and played! I can tell that this is going to provide lots of summer heat relief. And maybe if I position it right, it can water the gardens too. LOL! OK, so I know I shouldn't post nudy picture- but everything is covered! And who can resist ?

Maine Snow

My in-laws arrived yesterday. In the cooler, they had packed up some snow in ziplock bags- just for the kids! It turned out to be a mighty fun snowball fight, even though the grass is green! For dinner, we threw some hotdogs and burgers on the grill and had a BBQ. My in-laws were tickled pick, it's their first of the season!

We talked long into the evening, and today they babysat while I got my hair done. It's a beautiful day out- perfect for sitting on the porch while the kids play. Ahhhh, spring!

Oh, my poor mermaid!

She died a colorful, rather blue death, as the hands of my 2 year-old! Ah, that's what happens with kids.

Both boys see me creating and doing projects, so they imitate me. The little guy found my desk unattended, plus some chalk ink, and the rest is history....oh well. RIP!

Today.

These were taken today- my little peeps out in the yard, under the magnolia tree.

It was beautiful and sunny- but not too warm. Of course, Adam has yet another cold, and so his nose was running like a faucet. At one point, Jason (unprompted) called him over and wiped it for him. Sweet, huh? Maybe there's hope for them yet.

Chris is out of town again, so we went for Chinese food. I just didn't feel like cooking. The ironic thing is, I get sick of cooking and want take-out on the weekend, and Chris is just the opposite- he's sick of take-out and wants homecooked. SIGH. I got some spicy hot chicken- YUMMY!

Adam's been gibber gabbering for awhile. Here are some of the things he says:
1. mamam- me
2. Dada- daddy
3. mine!
4. cheese
5. cheese= teeth (you have to put it in context, of course!) as in brushing his teeth
6. where go?
7. that? comes out 'thath'
8. goy goy= drink (who knows, it's just what it means)
9. moon= moon, balloon, and plane
10. Jas= Jason
11. mote= remote (big shocker there)
12. moo!
13. fo= phone
14. nigh nigh= night night
15. I wan, I wan 'nother one, I wan it= I want
16. yummy yummy- means he wants more, usually handing me his snack bowl

I know there is more, but that's all I can think of. ;-) I love his little voice- so sweet when they are this age. He hasn't yet said the dreaded NO, but he does say "uh uh" and shakes his head no.

The time is passing so quickly. Taxes are dues tomorrow, I have to work, and the daffodils are almost done blooming.

Love. True Love.

I miss my husband.

He's been out of town for a week. The house is just somehow empty without him. Not that I don't have plenty to keep me busy- working, the kids, housework, etc., but I get bored. Chris makes me laugh a lot. I guess I make him laugh too. We totally get each other's humor.

I was married once before. It didn't work out so well. I have been amazingly lucky, and found love, real love, with Chris. We've been together for almost 7 years. I can't even remember what it was like without him. Isn't that weird?

I love him deeply, which is scary sometimes. Up until recently, I was a critical care nurse in an ICU. I had the pleasure of meeting lots of people, some of who have been married for 40-50 years. When one of them is hospitalized, the other is lost. One couple had never spent a night apart- ever! And they were somewhere in their 70s. Isn't that just amazing?

I've seen lots of people die. Sometimes the body lives, but the spirit leaves. You can feel it in the room. They just aren't there. Sometimes it helps to tell the family that. It has been my honor to help them die as peacefully as possible. Quietly, with dignity. Smoothing hair. Wiping brows. Holding hands. Comforting family.

The thought of it being me and my husband in that situation someday is mind-bending. Unimaginable.

But it will happen.

So, I tell him how much I love him every day. Just in case.

I Love You!

Imagine my surprise when I came home yesterday, to find a package with my name on it waiting for me on the porch. I knew Tammy was sending me the earrings she had made for me, but this package looked a little too large for that! I opened it up and found that she had sent me some wonderful things- the earrings, and a beautiful binder for me to put all my ideas down in. The box the earrings came in was just as magical, but I'll save that for another post. Take a look, and you'll see why she's my best buddy!
XOXO Lee

Isn't it great, having a best friend? And one who can make stuff, no less!! Thanks!! SMOOCH

Blatherings

I have had vertigo since Wednesday- not fun.
Guess I really am dizzy. LOL.

I think I ate my weight in chocolate today.

The upstairs bathroom is gutted.
Which means I have to come downstairs in the middle of the night to go.

Hubby is going out of town for the week.
Which means I am working and taking care of the kids myself- while still dizzy.

The farmer spread nasty manure on the fields.
Which means I can't hang laundry out.

Spring is here! YAY! My bluebirds are nesting.

Mother's Day is coming.

I made these 2 darling cards/hangings for our shoppe.

thrifty me

This is what I found today. The pyrex is 1 qt, with a matching lid. It has a small chip on each side of the lid handle. But for $3- who cares. The pins were $1 each- they're off to Tammy for some lovin'. And these coasters are really cool- 4 all together. I can't decide whether to use them up or sell them (try to, anyway).

Random Things and Spring.

I love the wire forms at Stampington. I tried to copy the picture to show you but couldn't, so go to the site and you'll see them. I tried to make one- not good. Don't laugh. The wire bends pretty well, but it was filthy and just wasn't working.

So I switched to paper mache and got this:
Now, I just need to build a dress on it!

The inside of my house is covered in lady bugs (I probably caught and released 30 today), the outside is covered in box elders (YECH).

These are some of the spring flowers: hyacinth and daffodils (only about the size of a quarter!).

Watch'a got in your garden?
