A Banner Kind of Day

We have two 6 x 6 porches on our house, one on the front and one on the side. Like many of you out there, we don't use our front door too often. The side door has the enclosed porch- enclosed by the old windows from the house! Cool, huh?

I saw this on Tracey's blog, and LOVED it.

I set out to spiff up the porch. I painted the ceiling haint blue. I bought red paint to do the floors- and match the barn trim. I never got around the painting the floor after I realized it was in such poor shape- like please-hold-up-for-another-year shape.

But, it is a really cool spot for dressing up. So, I finally got around to making some banners for the windows:

I recycled cardboard from various boxes. I covered both side with wallpaper from a sample book and some leftover drop cloth fabric. I embellished with burlap, lace, paper and buttons- whatever I had laying around in the studio that fit the color scheme. I stamped one piece with each of our initials and added some black glitter Stickles. Then I punched holes and strung it up with some pretty yarn. Easy peasy. I think I'll leave this up, and add holiday decorations around it. Which means I'd better head back to the studio and get started!

Happy Fall!

Lee,

That little porch is so sweet. The banner really works out there with your gingham curtains. The place looks really great. Sorry you had to add the new windows, but now it is done!

Wish you were going to the Country Living Fair with us tomorrow. Will be thinking of you.
