Faith in the Possibility

"I have an almost complete disregard of precedent, and a faith in the possibility of something better. It irritates me to be told how things have always been done. I defy the tyranny of precedent. I go for anything new that might improve the past. " Clara Barton, 1821-1912, American Civil War Nurse, founder of the American National Red Cross.

Wow, amazing words from an amazing woman. Imagine what it was like during her time- the role of women, the power of men. And yet she stood up. SHE STOOD UP.
And the American Red Cross still exists today. Thank you, Clara.

Lee!
Makes my heart sing. I never saw that quote before but I love it. Yes I am a nurse. I did cardiac, cardiac rehab and stress testing before we moved to AZ. Have not been able to work since 05 as hubby has needed me to be home. He is doing ok, no big changes. I do worry that if I have to go back some day that I won't be able to, listening to my DD and BFF who are both nurses in OH I worry that the treatment of nurses has truly become awful. Hope you are not experiencing that type of treatment.

Lee, I am ashamed to say, I'm just so envious of your amazing creativity. This piece really touches me. Do you ever feel that way. Like it just calls out to you. I have never considered red to be a favorite color of mine and this year it has just taken me by surprise. All of a sudden I love everything in red.
