Some Favorite Things

I love browsing through flea markets and thrift stores. I find myself attracted to certain things, but I'm not always sure why. My sister and I used to go to the local auction house once or twice a month- but that was way back before we had kids! Now, it's just too hard with the kids running loose. But, I have to say, some of the best stuff comes in box lots.

Anyway, look at these spoons. There's really nothing special about them, but as soon as I saw them, I scooped them up. I don't know what I'll do with them, but I just love their patina.

I've had these old dresses for a long time. I bought them at an auction in Maryland. The owner has passed away, and the family was cleaning the hosue out. The auctioneer was holding up the long, gorgeous Christening dress, and no one knew what it was! Guess there aren't many Catholics down this way!

I bought these four small dishes for a dollar each- can you believe it? I love roses.

And, as I've mentioned before, I love metal doo-dads.

What do you love?

We're Lollipops!!

...or something like that!

I am very excited and proud to announce that Tammy and I have been accepted as a vendor at the Lollishops. It is a juried website for artists, crafters, vendors, suppliers, etc. It is the type of place you can go to find all kinds of cool, girly, glitzy, romantic, cottagey, and vintage things for sale.

The official launch is in November. There may be changes to the etsy site, and we may have to change our name to avoid confusion with another vendor... but that won't change the wonderful goodies that we have for sale.

We'll keep you posted. Please check in by hitting the button on the top right of the screen.

If there's something you'd like to see us try our hands at, let me know!

Two Little Pumpkins

Fall is here, my friends. It was a chilly 32 degrees out this morning, but the day has warmed up and it is beautiful outside.

We got some pumpkins the other day, just 2 little ones to start off with. And this is what we did:

Jason is ready to carve the pumpkins already, but I convinced him we needed to wait a bit so that they don't rot. This week we'll work on getting some really BIG pumpkins to carve!
How was your week?

Flyin' High

Last weekend we were fortuntate enough to be invited to a local airfield by our neighbors, Uncle Walt and Miss Doris. Walt grew up in our house, and has a car garage next door that used to be a part of this property. He's been flying for 30 years, and since moving here, we've seen him fly by the house quite often. The boys and I usually run outside and wave like crazy!

So, last weekend he called and said "why don't you follow us up to the airport." He's been talking about taking the boys up, but I never thought it would acutally happen! We planned on me going up with Jason first, but he was too shy. So Adam and I went up.

Then when we landed, Jason was more than ready!

Then it was Chris' turn.

What an amazing day! It was gorgeous out, perfect for the plane ride. We saw the local countryside in a whole new way. We saw the Strasburg Railroad from above, the big black trains chugging along. We saw buzzards flying in the same space as us. We could see Three Mile Island, Pottstown, and even the Philadelphia skyline!

A BIG thanks to our neighbors! It was a once-in-a-lifetime chance!

Am I Blue?

Nope, it's just a song my mom always used to sing.

Anyway, I started off with that as a lead in to this cool find from Goodwill:

I NEVER find old flowers. Isn't this hat cool! The feathers are just amazing. I don't know what I'll do with it, but it was a bargain! Maybe this will be the start of hat whispering--- go check out Karla on this one. LOL.

I found two vintage handbags too. The wicker one brings me up to 4. I love them. Can't stop buying them... but again, they were a steal at the Goodwill. The straw one is marked "made in Italy." It could be grandma looking, but I think adding a sassy flower to the side will totally change how it looks.

I went to a different Goodwill the other day, not too far from the posh Greenville, Del., area. I picked up a pair of Calvin Klein jeans for $5, and Tommy Hilfiger khakis for $3.50. Now that a bargain- or as we'd say in college- BARRR- GOAN!!

What'd you find this week?

Hayfields and Boys

This is my house:

These are my kids playing in the field next door. Jason and Adam are crazy about tractors. They love to run along the property line as the farmers go by.

Yesterday the farmer came by and raked the hay field, flipping it into rows to get it to dry. Once it's dry, they roll it into hay bales. They boys couldn't resist, doing the same thing they saw the rake doing.

One of the things the drew my husabnd and I to this house was the amazing views. We live on the top of a hill, and the horses and fields next door are much better than a housing development anyday!

Enjoy this wonderful weather. It'll be cold before we know it.

Twigs And Feathers

If you've been to our Etsy shoppe lately, (and you better have!!) you may have noticed that in addition to our crafty art stuff, we have quite a bit of brassy goodies. That's because I LOVE that sort of stuff. I pick up all kinds of metal things when I'm at flea markets and thrift shops. I can't help it. I love letters and numbers, random pieces of metal, drawer pulls, keys, hinges, knobs... you get the picture.

Well, now you can "get it" even more! Tammy and I have opened a sister Etsy shoppe called Twigs and Feathers. This shoppe will be more dedicated to the necessities for building a nest, versus decorating a nest!

My latest find are a bunch of brass laundry pins. I love them. I picture them as ornaments, jewelry, necklaces- you name it. We sold out of numbered brass tags not too long ago, but I have a bunch more coming this way soon!

There will also be papers goodies. I bought these cool labels off eBay. They look and feel vintage, but I can't say that for sure. I think these would be cute for resin magnets or pins, collages, or even faux postage.
So, what do you think?
