Surfing in Blogland

Here's a great idea for generating some new bloggers to your site AND finding new ones yourself. Go check out Jennifer Smith at Rosey Little Things:

Do you want to generate more traffic to your blog and meet new bloggers along the way? Then you need to participate in my “Blog Swap”. I will keep sign ups open until the 31st and assign partners on the first.
Please leave your email and blog address in a comment on this post (at her site.)
Mention on your blog that you are participating in this swap, so others can join as well.
Each person will receive three blog partners.
You must visit your partners blog, check it out really well and leave a thought full comment.
Once you receive a comment you may want to visit their blog as well as they are different than your partners you visit. Optional but nice:)
Please visit your partners site with in four days.

Isn't this a great idea? I mean, how many times have you written a post and not one comment is left? I know that this isn't the sole reason for blogging, but it sure is nice to get some validation. So, go play- the more, the merrier!!

Oh- and if you haven't signed up for my giveaway, go to the post below!

It's That Time- A Giveaway!

Well folks, it's time I stopped being lazy and got to my first blogiversary! On this site, I am still well under 100 posts, but I did have another site that had lots on it. AND- it has been over year of posting... so here goes!

Please leave me a comment on this post and I will enter you in the giveaway. You will have one week to do so- which means I will pick the winner next Thursday.

As of now, the winner will receive this- a handmade Joy plaque from me. It is certainly appropriate, as blogging has brought me great joy over the past year. I am able to communicate with family and friends in a way that wasn't possible before. I love to show you things from my life. In turn, I love the surf through blogland and read about you, too.

I will also be piling lots of goodies into the package too! Thanks for stopping by and reading my posts! I enjoy your comments immensely!

Some Cool Finds!

It's hot as heck here- too hot to go yard saling or flea marketing. So, I'm going to post some cool things I found in our local flea market.

The metal box actually has a bit of blue to it- gotta love that. It will be perfect for- anything! The round metal things and the can openers are just another example of my metal fetish!

The little wicker chicken basket is for my kitchen. I see a lot of wicker ducks, but not many chickens. It's pretty small, and reminds me of an old egg basket. The yellows tags can be for anything- perfect for gluing. The metal hanger and its doily will probably be disassembled. The hangers cost a few dollars each, so this is a bargain.

Next is 50 wonderful feet of vintage cloth measuring tape. LOVE it! The old metal shell has a wonderful patina. And lastly, the copper rooster trivet- another additional to the kitchen. All of this cost me a whopping $3!!

I have tons more stuff, but I'll save that for another post! Thanks for looking!

It's a Maine Thing

We recently took a too-short trip to Maine for my mother-in-law Nancy's retirement party. She knew we were coming, but her son and daughter flew in on the sly, as well as Rich and Eric surprising her too! We pulled it off, and it was great! The family- Chris, Rich, Eric, Jesse and Josie- hadn't been all together in one place in a number of years. It was fun!

We had a lobster boil in true New England fashion. We sat down to a cooler of steaming lobsters, some clams, corn, salad, and lots and lots of butter! I ate 3 by myself- what indulgence! We sat around, talked, and really enjoyed spending time together as a family.

I was pregnant with Adam the last time we were there, so it's been over 2 years. I forgot, if that's the right word, how wonderful Maine is. The pond is so beautiful, and it just lends itself to relaxing. I didn't want to leave. I'm hoping we can take another trip up, closer to the fall.

Josi- my sister-in-law- is having ANOTHER round of interviews with Project Runway tomorrow. Please send a prayer out to her! She is uber talented, and SO deserves to be on the show. She and her man Nick spent the holiday weekend filming background info. and interviews for a video that Josi sent to PR last week. They loved her so much they called her the next day. How's that for talent? A shout out to Nick for doing such an amazing job!

The visit was way too short. We send our love out to our family, who we miss so much.

Long Time Coming

Or maybe I should say driving...

After being in Georgia 2 weeks ago, the family and I drove the Maine for a too-short weekend. We were there to celebrate my mother-in-law's retirement. It was great. I'll fill you in later, for now here are some cool pictures from Georgia.

Here are 2 vintage trucks that Tammy's dying to get! Can't you see them, filled to the brim with all kinds of vintage finds. And you know, the inside has to be girly! Farm Chicks, meet your east coast match!

Next are some really weird signs I just couldn't resist. To even try to explain them just defies logic... but if you have some insight (or just a funny comment) let's hear it!

And finally, some great pictures from a Mason's building, and another nearby building. Enjoy.
