Amazing Mail

I love getting great stuff in the mail! Do you all remember the Birds & Trees fatbook I made 2 pages for? Well, it arrived from sweet Marilyn the other day.
This is the front cover, made by Marilyn herself. She also did 2 inside pages, as well as the back cover. Isn't the German glass glitter nest just the coolest! The next two images are her pages:

Paula Scinto:
Ramona Weyde-Ferch:
Sandra Muller:
and last, but not least, mine:

Thank you Marilyn for heading up the projecy. And thank you to all of the ladies who particpated, through ClubCreative. I love the book and am honored to have participated!

So, what's next??

A Nice Award

My new blogging friend Tam over at Lollipops gave me a blog award- how sweet! Blogging is such an amazing thing. It let's you connect with people all over the world. It let's you laugh and cry to people's stories. It lets you keep in touch with loved ones. It gives you place to show off your art, hobbies, cooking- whatever! And that's the beauty of it.

Personally, it's done a lot for me. There are times when being at home with two small boys has been a challenge, to put it lightly. Blogging has been an outlet for me- the place I can go and not feel alone at 6:30 in the morning.

It's also been a place for me to stretch my artistic wings. I have been able to check out the blogs of favorite artists, scrapbookers, etc. I am able to go on the internet and be inspired!!

It's a place for my in-laws in Maine to go and check out the kids. It's a place for my friends and family to keep up with what I'm doing. In short, it's been wonderful.

So, here's the award:

To translate the gift from Portuguese to English, it means:"This blog invests and believes, the proximity"[meaning, that blogging makes us 'close' -being close through proxy] How awesome is that??

"They all are charmed with the blogs, where in the majority of its aims are to show the marvels and to do friendship; there are persons who are not interested when we give them a prize, and then they help to cut these bows; do we want that they are cut, or that they propagate?"

So with this prize we must deliver it to 8 bloggers that in turn must pass it on:

My friend Tammy at The Other Side of Me has already been nominated, but being nominated by me goes without saying;

Luz over at She Flies With Her Own Wings, because she is so stinkin' funny- and a great scrapbooker, mom, and friend;

JoAnna at JoAnna's Art Journal, because I love her art;

Connie at Magnolia Street Style, because she's a cool junkin' lady;

Lynn over at Sea Angels, because she has the most beautiful and amazing blog;

Karen over at Amusements, because she has some really gorgeous stuff;

Diana over at Diana Zeug- DesignBlog- my German swap pal;

Marilyn over at Outside the Lines, because she is an amazing artist and friend;

and Tracie at The Red Door Studio, for being a friend and inspiration.

I'm supposed to leave them a note on their blog and tell them I gave them award, but why don't you go visit them and tell them I sent you?

Some Roses For You

Fall is coming, bringing with it lots of warm, golden colors- leaves, pumpkins, and lots of mums for your pots. But, eventually all the flowers are gone, and things can get kinda blah.

Well, I have some great roses that will keep you happy all winter long.

These four beauties will be added to our Etsy shop tonight. They are amazingly versatile- they can be pinned to jacket, sweaters, scarves and handbags. Even more fun, add them to your gift packages as the bow! Or attached a little TO and FROM tag to make your special gift unforgettable.

My Little Bird Has Flown

Where has the time gone?
Swallowed up in the daily routines

Bumps and bruises
Snuggles and kisses

Dirty hands and feet
Warm and fresh from the bath

A thousand thousand kisses from mommy

Too fast, my little one.
Love, Mommy XOXO

It's Official!!

I'm going to be published in a Stampington publication!!

Tentatively entitled Somerset In Love, it will be book (or magazine, not sure which) made up of all of the books from a cupid-themed round robin hosted by Marilyn Healey last year. Yippee!

The round robin that I was involved with included Marilyn, Heather Bluhm, Laura Bray, Lilia Meredith, Kristen Robinson, and myself. Each of use made a blank book, which was mailed out to everyone in the swap. When my book came back, I had pages made by each of these wonderful ladies! How luck am I?

Then, the icing on the cake came in the form of an email from Marilyn, stating that Stampington was interested in the project, and would we be interested in submitting? AS IF- of course!!!

I have to admit that I was floored when Marilyn asked me to participate. I love her work, and was thrilled that she would consider me talented enough to participate. Then when I found out who else was involved, I was even more excited. And scared. I was very concerned my pages wouldn't be good enough. I loved each set that I did, and was stretched artistically for each one. Some of the books were quite large, and I had trouble doing spaces that big. Looking back, there are things I would change in each book, but at the time, it was where I was artistically.

In the end, 2 layouts (a total of four pages) were chosen from the ones I did. Not too bad for a rookie. I can only hope Marilyn and the group involved will consider me for another project.

So, I'll keep you posted. I do know the book will be available January 1, 2009.
